Dr. Vinayak Das Gupta, Assistant Professor, Department of English, is interested in the overlaps between the sciences and the humanities. Specifically, his research focuses on the analysis of historical photographs using computational methods. His doctoral thesis focused on the philosophical and computational implications of building digital research collections. His current work focuses on the application of Linked Data in the production of image-based research resources. He has worked a number of European projects including the Letters of 1916, The Battle of Mount Street Bridge, and Recalling Jewish Calcutta.
Vinayak has a Ph.D. in Digital Humanities from Trinity College Dublin and Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in English Literature from Jadavpur University. He has held three Postdoctoral research positions before joining Shiv Nadar University.
